This Old Tree Of Mine: Winds of Change

The Winds of Change ravished  the landscape last night and today, sweeping away all that remained of September.
They continue to war with what is left of my fence, my roof, and what is left of this Old Tree of Mine, Patience lost a few of her long slender branches, some as old as 30 years, and still she stands.

The Winds tell me that we are in for a long and hard Fall and Winter, and blow the scent of goblins and jack-o-lanterns through the cracks in my house.

All too soon the winds will blow in the scents of Thanksgiving dinners and trees freshly cut for Christmas, and then Patience will call to the chicadees and cardinals, and they will find refuge in her branches.

I wonder, as I do every year since moving here, if I can withstand another of Nature’s harshest seasons, and I see today that I will.

Today Patience has taught me Fortitude.
